Job Description
The City of Indianola invites applicants for the position of Clerk/Finance Office Assistant. The position will perform a variety of financial, general clerical, customer service and confidential administrative support duties for the Clerk/Finance Department. Work requires accuracy, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work semi-independently while exercising good judgment. Responsibilities may include, but is not limited to, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, clerical, front desk and administrative operations, data entry, records management, and general office support. The position interacts with both internal staff and the public and supports key financial and administrative functions of the department.
The City of Indianola (pop. 16,069) is a growing community with a historic downtown, located approximately 15 minutes south of Des Moines. Indianola, which is home to Simpson College, the world-renowned Des Moines Metro Opera, the National Balloon Museum, and the U.S. Ballooning Hall of Fame, is known for its excellent access to outdoor activities, a nice trail system, five major parks, and two golf courses. This is a part-time position with an estimate of 15 hours per week. The salary for this position is $25.53/hour. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer drug screening and background check. Position open until filled. A first review of applications will take place September 28, 2026.
